Our Mission

To provide quality health and human services to the medically underserved and low-income population in a culturally sensitive manner

Background

CCCHC is committed to its mission “to provide quality health and human services to the medically underserved and low-income population in a culturally sensitive manner.” CCCHC is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the South Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside County populations by providing quality health and human services to underserved low-income residents in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. CCCHC’s service area, Los Angeles County Service Planning Area (SPA) 6, is populated by at-risk, vulnerable individuals who experience significant barriers to accessing health care.

The Patients We Serve

Most of our patients come to us from South Los Angeles, Compton, Huntington Park, Inglewood, Lynwood, Paramount, South Gate, and Vernon.

In 2012, we saw a total of 12,774 unduplicated patients, resulting in 47,920 visits. Eighty-three percent live below 100 percent of the federal poverty level.

Race/Ethnicity: Latinos are the fastest-growing and largest ethnic group in SPA 6, representing 67.7 percent of the population. African Americans make up 28.5 percent; Caucasians, 2.0 percent; and Asian and Pacific Islanders, 1.6 percent. High unemployment and high poverty rates compound to result in higher uninsured rates in SPA 6 than those of the county and the state.

Gender: Male 55%; Female 45%

Ages: Most of our patients are between the ages of 20 and 64:

Medical Coverage: CCCHC is a My Health LA (MHLA) partner with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, with 34 percent of our patients receiving services under our MHLA agreements. Another 10 percent have private insurance, and 12 percent self-pay. About 1 percent receives services through Healthy Families; 14 percent, managed care; 16 percent, Medicare; and 11 percent, Medi-Cal.
