History
From its origins as a small storefront clinic begun by Dr. Ann Turner and Catherine Bax, a Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, in 1981, the South Central Family Health Center (SCFHC) has expanded into an important part of the safety net in South Los Angeles. A founding member of the Southside Coalition, today the SCFHC houses its main center in a 13,300 square-foot facility. Located at 4425 S. Central Avenue in South Los Angeles, the SCFHC facility contains 25 examination rooms and two imaging rooms for radiology. SCFHC gained certification as an FQHC in 2002.
SCFHC also operates the Huntington Park Family Health Center in Huntington Park, Cudahy Family Health Center in Cudahy, and two school-based wellness centers at The Accelerated School and Jefferson High School.
