T.H.E. (To Help Everyone) Health and Wellness Centers improves the health and well-being of the Los Angeles communities we serve by providing excellent and affordable preventive, primary and behavioral health care accessible to all.
T.H.E. was founded in 1974 by a small group of medical volunteers who wanted to bring affordable, quality health care to the South Los Angeles community of uninsured women and their families. Nearly 50 years later, T.H.E. has grown to serve people of all genders and ages, utilizing a patient-centered medical home model.
T.H.E. is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and for nearly a decade, T.H.E. has received the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission, a nonprofit accreditation body that ranks healthcare organizations
T.H.E. has six service sites (including a Mobile Health Center and two School-Based Health Centers) that serve some of the most vulnerable residents in South Los Angeles. Our primary service area encompasses Crenshaw, Jefferson, West Adams, Inglewood, Lennox, Hawthorne in SPAs 6 and 8, and other densely urbanized neighborhoods noted for high rates of non-elderly uninsured.
In 2021, T.H.E. saw 12,219 patients and provided 56,226 medical, dental, and behavioral health visits – both in-person and via telehealth.
Our patients are resilient community members invested in raising healthy families even as they face over-crowded neighborhoods, hunger, crime, under-employment and barriers to equity in education. Forty-seven percent of residents of SPAS 6 and 8 have incomes below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which is a higher rate compared to the rest of Los Angeles County (35%) and all of California (31%).
Income level directly impacts the challenges they face related to Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), such as housing, food insecurity, transportation, education, literacy, and safety.
Twenty-eight percent of our patients are best served in a language other than English.
Here’s more about the people we serve:
Federal Poverty Level: About 67% percent of our patients earn less than 100% of the federal poverty line.
